SONOHR 23.-25.2.2024

For the next SONOHR Radio & Podcast Festival from 23-25 February 2024, we are looking for audio-based artistic works and performances that go beyond the limits of conventional audio productions (radio plays, produced audio pieces, podcasts) and explore new, unheard-of, creative and daring approaches to the medium of audio.


We’re looking for

  • Diverse, interactive, narrative and/or interdisciplinary live audio works that go beyond the framework of produced audio formats and that enable an extended listening experience and an exchange with the authors. These can be documentary, fictional or experimental live performances and live radio plays, audio or soundwalks, live podcasts, interactive formats and other innovative or interdisciplinary audio formats.

 

The formalities:

  • Projects: In addition to completed works, we also consider expressive, intelligible project sketches and concepts for our programme. Well documented projects that have been presented elsewhere are equally welcome.
  • We offer remuneration for performance for the selected projects and audio works, as well as accommodation and reimbursement of travel costs to Bern. We are unable to fund entire productions, but smaller production contributions may be possible. Please refer to the status of project funding in the application.
  • Audio works in German, French or English can be submitted without transcripts. However, existing transcripts – even if only acting as a guide – are welcome Audio works in other languages may only be submitted with an English or German translation/transcription.
  • The language of correspondence is German, French or English.

Who are we? 

The SONOHR Radio & Podcast Festival celebrates three days of creative, sound-rich documentary and fictional audio narratives and enables authors to exchange ideas with each other as well as with the audience. In addition to this Open Call, SONOHR is launching an annual competition for contemporary Swiss radio plays in June 2023.
